GE Appliances Recalls Top-Loading Washer

GE Appliances, a Haier company (“GEA”) has announced a recall of 220,000+ GE Profile High-Efficiency Top-Loading Clothes Washers due to a risk of fire.

This recall is for older appliances sold between June 2003 and October 2011.

All  units with any of these GE Profile model numbers are affected: WPGT9350, WPGT9360, WPGT9150

They units, made in Korea, came in gold, grey and white.

The model number is located on the rear cover of the washer’s backsplash, above the water valve connections. If your unit is tight to the wall, you may need to snap a picture with your cell phone to read the model and serial number information.

If your washer is part of this recall, immediately unplug and stop using the washer and contact GE Appliances for a free repair.

You can go online to schedule your free repair or contact GE toll-free at 877-830-9732 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. Have both your model number and serial number ready to give them.

Note: about 450 units were sold in Canada.
