If you’ve ever accidentally placed metal in the microwave you know how startling an electrical arc can be.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission, Whirlpool Corp. is recalling about 15,200 OTR microwaves because internal arcing during use can ignite a plastic component posing a fire hazard.
These microwave hoods were sold in the US between January 2014 through April 2016 for between $370 and $470.
Microwave hood combination units included in the recall are listed below. Model and serial numbers are located on the inside of the unit above the oven cavity on the left hand side.
If your model is par of the recall stop using it immediately, unplug the unit and contact Whirlpool for a free replacement product.
