A wide range of appliance sizes and configurations are involved in this recall notice. The freestanding gas ranges were sold in stainless steel, black, white and 21 different colors and finishes from July 2007 through June 2014. The ranges were sold in various surface configurations: All burners or burners with griddle and/or grill in widths of 30, 36, 48 or 60 inches.
The failure is caused when liquid seeps into the control panel area. You may continue to use your range; however, caution must be used when cooking or cleaning the surface area to ensure no liquid is allowed behind the control panel and landing ledge. If liquid does get into this area or if the unit turns on by itself, stop using the product immediately and turn off the breaker to the product. Do not attempt to use the product again until the repair has been completed.
Included in the recall are all models with manufacturer model number VGIC306, VGIC308, VGIC366, VGIC368, VGIC486, VGIC488, VGIC530, VGIC536, and certain serial number ranges of model numbers VGCC530, VGCC536, VGCC548, VGCC560, VGSC530, VGSC536, and VGSC548.
To determine if your range is part of this recall, locate the serial number in one of three possible locations. Look on the bottom of the control panel above the door, on the front of the oven cavity below the control panel, or on the inside of the left side panel; which can be seen by removing the left front grate and burner bowl.
