Gas dryers manufactured by LG Electronics of South Korea are being recalled because the gas valve can fail to shut off properly and pose the danger of scorching the drum (and your clothes) as well as fire and smoke inhalation.
About 21,000 dryers manufactured between November 2009 and August 2010 under the LG brand name and Kenmore Elite are affected by this recall.
If your Dryer is part of the recall, tun off your gas supply and schedule your free repair. (Take note, if your dryer has a colored sticker, it means your unit has already been repaired according to the CPSC.)
If you purchased your dryer from Sears, contact Sears’ customer service at (888) 375-9741 to schedule a free repair to replace the gas valve.
LG brand owners who purchased their dryer at retailers other than Sears should contact LG at (866) 223-5355.
**To confirm if your dryer is part of this recall, identify both model and serial numbers, since not all dryers with the listed models are recalled.**
