GE Appliance and Lighting is recalling 174,000 Dishwashers under both the Profile and Monogram names due to water condensation that can drip onto the circuit board and cause a short. There is potential fire danger so consumers are urged to disconnect the power supply or shut off the circuit breaker at the panel for the dishwasher.
The Dishwasher were sold nationwide from July 2003 through December 2006 for between $750 and $1,400. The recalled model and serial numbers listed below are located on the inside on the front left side of the dishwasher tubs.
GE is aware of 4 “escaped” fires that have damaged homes. GE is proactively contacting as many customers as possible. In the meantime, if you have a recalled dishwasher, you should call the Recall Hotline toll-free at 877-275-6840 to schedule your free repair.
If you’d like to replace your DW instead of repairing it, GE is offering a rebate of $200 for the purchase of a new GE Profile dishwasher and a GE rebate of $400 for purchase of a new GE Monogram dishwasher.
