Thermador recalls 42,000 Ovens

This voluntary recall is for the following  model numbers C271B, C301B, SEC271B, SEC301B, SEM272B, SEM302B, SEMW272B, and SEMW302B.  The date codes are FD8403 and FD8701.  These units were sold nationwide from November 2004 to May 2007.

The oven can have gaps in the insulation where overheating can occur and when used in the self-cleaning mode it can cause nearby cabinets to overheat.  There have been 10 incidents reported so far with one resulting in a fire and extensive property damage.

Consumers are urged to stop using the self-cleaning mode and contact Thermador for inspection.

  1. our oven is overheating. We set it for 350 and after about 20 min. the temp. gauge read 500 degrees. This is the third time this has happened. All of our smoke alarms went off in our 3700 sq. ft. home.
